Cyber Society Of India along with Tamilnadu Police Cyber Crime Wing jointly organized a Panel discussion on “ How to Combat Current Cyber Crime Scenario” on 02.09.2023 , Saturday at 10.30 am in Hotel Raj Sundar Palace in Durgabai Deshmikh Road, RA Puram, Chennai – 600028.

CySI Program on How to Combat the Current Cyber Crime Scenario

Program commenced at 10.30 am sharp with Invocation song. The President of Cyber Socciety of india Mr.K.M.vijayakumar and Secretary Mr.Balu Swaminathan along with other panelists/dignitaries lighted the Kuthuvilakku as a tradition and mark of commencement of the program

Joint Treasurer of CySI Mr. K.Murugan welcomed the gathering. Master of Ceremony mrs.Adhilakshmi Logamoorthy, Advocate introduced the Panel Members and Speakers to the audience.

Mr.K.M.Vijayakumar, President CySI acted as the moderator for the Panel and initiated the Panel discussion. He explained the various types of Cyber Crimes that are being committed oflate.

Mr.Balu Swaminathan, Seceretary of CySI, retired Additional superintendent of Police,Cyber Crime, spoke on the recent trends of Cyber Crime. He emphasized the need for preferring complaint by every Cyber Crime victim. He further stated that everyone should insulate themselves against various types of Cyber Crimes. By becoming more and more aware of such Crimes.

Mr.V.Premanand Vice-President of CySI spoke on Ransomeware. He explained what is Ransomware. He cited examples and live cases of Ransomeware attacks both abroad and in India, Normally such Ransomware attacks targets large Corporates & companies. To combat that what is needed is awareness and regular taking of backups.

Mr.Raman, Jt.Seceretary of CySI spoke on online job rackets/scam. He gave practical case studies and explained how this scam operates.

Ms, Pramila, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crimes spoke on how to combat Cyber Crimes, from Police Angle. She said that Cyber Crime Wing of Tamilnadu Police is creating awarweness about various Cyber Crimes and how not to fall victim to the same. She advised that if anyone becomes the victim of cyber Crimes should immediately dial 1930 and report. She enphasised that awareness is the key to escape from Cyber Crimes. She further stated that Cyber Crimes are of two types, viz., Financual and Non-Financial. She also explained about Cyber Crime Police Setup.

Mr.Thomas, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime also spoke on the occasion, He also stated that the only solution to Combat Cyber Crimes is awareness. Scams are committed by the fraudsters by threatening , creating sympathy and also inducing the desires. He also gave statistics of different types of Cyber Crimes reported last year.

The Panel discussion was followed by Questions and Answers session. Many participants raised various doubts and the Panelists clarified their doubts.

The program came to an end after vote of thanks by Mr. Neelakantan, an EC member followed by National Anthem.
